Training Plan

Granfondo Serra da Estrela, in partnership with coach Miguel Ganchinho, will provide a 14-week training plan, starting on March 27, 2023, that is, 3 and a half months before the event, which you can use as a basis for your specific preparation for this challenge. It will be available to all athletes from March 2023.

It is important to be aware of your initial physical condition, carry out a prior assessment, which allows you to get to know yourself better, as well as to know your training rhythms/zones, in order to prepare yourself as effectively as possible for this challenge.

In the basic preparation to overcome this challenge, go increasing your resistance and your performance to go up, increasing the distance of your trainings, also putting in more altimetry. Try to reach a level where at least twice a month you do a workout above double digits or more than 4 or 5 hours and once a month you do it on a course with some longer climbs, trying to reach at least 2,000 m of accumulated climbs. So, when you get to the beginning of the specific training plan, you will already have the basic preparation to face it.
